The first cloned horse is a female called Prometea, born in 2003. She was produced by a team led by Cesare Galli, director of the Laboratory of Reproductive Technology in Cremona, Italy. On 17 March 2008, she gave birth to a foal called Pegaso.
Previous cloned animals have experienced severe health problems. Dolly the sheep, the first mammal to be cloned from an adult cell, died unusally young after developing first arthritis (at five-and-a-half years) and then an incurable lung disease. No-one has yet produced a cloned adult monkey, but clone embryos have been made - and their cells are abnormal.

I was checking out Cnet's weekly photos collection, per usual, and found a picture that really opened up my eyes. For a while, I've known that there has been a hole in the ozone layer of earth's atmosphere. Check out this NASA rendering:

Humans are having an impact on the Earth. This diagram shows the hole in the ozone layer as seen in blue and purple. This image was based on readings from NASA's Aura satellite.
